TAPE-IN EXTENSIONS
What type of hair extensions do you offer? What lengths? What is the care like? These are some questions you might have, if you have never had hair extensions before. Below I have added the most important FAQ’s on hair extensions that you might have?
FAQ’S
What type of hair extensions do you offer?
TAPE-IN Hair Extensions are applied to the hair close to the scalp with a double sided tape method. Think of it as a sandwich of small wefts with the hair in between that are sealed with medical grade adhesive tape. You can use these for volume and length or just for added volume.
How long do the extensions last?
8 to 10 weeks depending on the client’s hair growth. You can reuse the same set 2-4 times depending on hair care and wear and tear.
How do I remove them?
I apply a gentle solvent to the new hair growth and allow it to run down the hair shaft in between the adhesive tabs. Let it set for a moment and then separate the tabs. This process typically takes 30 minutes or less.
What hair products can be used in the hair?
You can use pretty much any hair product as long as when you apply it it does not get close to the scalp or on the tabs. As this can loosen up the adhesive and they can slip out. You want to avoid heavy conditioners. When applying hair product you want to add the product on the mid shaft ( middle of hair) to the ends. You can shampoo like normal and gently massage the scalp, just make sure to properly remove all shampoo.
Can I swim, exercise or go in the sauna?
Yes you can. Before swimming you want to coat your hair the middle to ends with a conditioner, this will nourish the hair and prevent the hair from absorbing harmful elements such as chlorine. Hair tangles when dirt and sweat build up, when exercising it is best to have hair tied up in a pony tail. You must wash your hair after working out, as well as brushing before and after exercising or using the sauna.
Can roots be retouched, while the extensions are in the hair?
Yes, roots can be retouched, keeping in mind to stay away from the tabs. It is recommended that roots be done before application of extensions. If roots need to be retouched in between extension services and there is enough new growth to keep the color off the tabs, I suggest doing a partial retouch along the hair line.
Can I color it?
There are over 50 colors that can be blended to 1000 different shades to match your current hair color. If you are unable to blend to create your desired shade you can deposit color up to two shades darker. I do not recommend to lighten the hair extensions, as this can compromise the integrity of the hair.
Can I straighten, curl or blow-dry the hair?
All of the above heat processes are okay. When blow drying be careful as to not concentrate the heat on the scalp or close to the tabs as this can make the adhesive tacky.
What lengths are available?
10-12” 14-16” 18-20” 22-24”
How many packs does it take to do a full head?
It can vary depending on the end result of each client. On average it should take about 3 (20 piece) packs to create length with someone who has average density. If you have more density, so if your hair is thicker or you have shorter layers, you may need 4 (20 piece) packs. If your hair is fine, you may be able to complete a full head with just 2 (20 piece) packs.
Each pack of hair comes with 20 pieces creating 10 sandwiches.
